Since 2014, GRD Girls Degree College has celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, on October 31 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India. Rashtriya ekta diwas 2022 marks the 147th birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced in 2014 that National Unity Day will be observed on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary to recognise his contribution to India’s Independence and unity. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in India was first celebrated on 31st October 2014.
